SAFFCHAMPIONSHIP 2023 FINAL 

In this match, India won the 9 times winner's medal by defeating Kuwait 5-4 in the penalty shootout.

In this match, the scoreboard was 1-1 at full time and after five rounds of penalty shootout, the score line was 4-4.

The decision was then followed by Indian team's Mahesh Noarem but Kuwait team captain Khaled Hajiya's shot was saved by Indian team's driving goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.

The Indian team won.

Indian goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu once again proved that he is a goalkeeper unlike any other.

Because he saved a crucial penalty in a tough fight and helped the Indian team beat Kuwait 5-4 in the penalty shootout to clinch the 9-time title of the saff championship 2023 trophy held in Bangalore on Tuesday.

At the end of the match, the score line was one apiece. And in the subsequent penalty shootout, the score line remained as four four, after which the rule of score to win was applied.

Shabaib al Khaldi of Kuwait team gave the lead to the Kuwait team in the 14 minute while Lallianzuala Chhangte equalized the Indian team in the 39th minute.

The last match between defending champions India and Kuwait was tied 1-1.

The Indian team won for the second time in the penalty shootout.

Earlier, in the semi-final held on July 1, lebon defeated Lebon in a penalty shootout and entered the final on Tuesday.

Also in those matches Sandhu made important saves in the shootout.

Captain Sunil Chhetri, Sandesh Jhingan, Chhangate, Subashish Bose and Mahesh were converted for the team while Uadanta Singh was missed.

In the second half before the shootout

A relentless effort got them the desired result in the 14th minute.

Mobarak Al Faneni released Abul Al Bloushi with an open pass on the left.

A perfect cross into the Al Bloushi box led to Shabebe Al Khaldi who scored to give Kuwait a 1-0 lead.

India could have scored a goal in the next minute but Kuwait goalkeeper Abdul Rahman blocked a chhangte long cross.

Wonderfull passing between Sahal Abdul Samad and captain Chhetri and then a free chhangte deep in the box ahead chhangte shown who will play on the number 12 jersey of the Indian team chhangte had no problem scoring.

In the second half, the aggressive play of both the teams saw both the teams tear each other apart and the match was very enjoyable to watch. And the match kept getting faster.

Both the teams went to the second goal post in this aggressive game but neither managed to score and the match went to extra time.

As these two teams were tied, they played aggressively against each other, resulting in injuries to the players of both the teams.

Officials and players were cautioned i.e. yellow cards were given.

Despite the relentless efforts of both the teams, the goal could not be scored, so the final decision went to a shootout.

And further we all know the result India team won.
